Aug 22, 2017 Today I got my Norton 10x20 U4 cylindrical grinder wired up and running. It still needs a bit more cleaning, but it's functional. The reservoir for the coolant will be cleaned. This grinder will be seldomly used so I'm wondering what fluid would be better to let sit in the reservoir long term. Also, which fluid gives a nicer finish? thanks, Mark

I was just about out of the stuff, and had a project I wanted to start--how great is it, that I didn't have to drive to the nearest supply store (about an hours drive for me)..and I received it in 2 days!

Dec 17, 2009 When I worked for a company I always liked running coolant when surface grinding. It seemed to prevent warpage, overheating and the finish was better. Maintaining the coolant tank was also a big job which I did. In my home shop there is no coolant on my 6 x 12 Harig surface grinder. More trouble than it is worth.
